Custom Cowboy Hat FAQs: Part One

When it comes to cowboy hats, there are a lot of questions that people have. What is the difference between a Stetson and a Resistol? How do I know what size cowboy hat to buy? What is the best material for a cowboy hat? In this blog post, we will answer four of the most frequently asked questions about cowboy hats!

What is the difference between a Stetson and a Resistol?

Stetsons are typically made of wool, while Resistols are often made of straw. Additionally, Resistols tend to be more lightweight than Stetsons.

How do I know what size cowboy hat to buy?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question! The best thing to do is to use a cloth tape measure to measure around your head. Starting at about ⅛ of an inch above your ears and across the center of your forehead. Then use the size chart to figure out your size. If you are near Greeley, come by our hat shop. We can custom-fit your new hat for you right there in the store!

What is the best material for a cowboy hat?

This really depends on personal preference. Some people prefer hats made of felt, while others prefer straw hats. It’s up to you! We recommend choosing a hat material based on the environment in which you’ll be wearing the hat.

How should I clean my cowboy hat?

Start by brushing your dry hat with a soft-bristled brush. Gentle conditioners can be used to remove stains. If you can’t get a hat clean, bring it to your hat maker!
